Plan of Salvation

Plan of Salvation

Most people assume that salvation is obtained by performing good works,

but God's word says, "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost." (Titus 3:5)

Unfortunately, many people today give little thought to where they will spend eternity when they die. Hebrews 2:3 states, "How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him."

Dear friend, if you were to die right now where would you spend eternity? Heaven or Hell?

The Bible states that there are two important aspects of salvation, "Testifying both the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ" (Acts 20:21). No one can be saved until they first realize they are a sinner, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). And since you are a sinner, you must be willing to repent of your sin that has displeased God and turn to Christ as your Saviour. Secondly, you must by faith believe that Jesus Christ died, was buried, rose again and is in Heaven right now able to save you. "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation" (Romans 10:9-10).

By faith, you must call on him for salvation, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Romans 10:13)

Why not pray a simple prayer such as this, "Dear Lord, I know I'm a sinner, and need forgiveness, I believe you shed your blood and died on the cross for my sins, were buried and rose again. In the best I know how I repent of my sins and by faith receive you as my personal Lord and Savior. Save me Lord Jesus. Amen."
